Silhouette FAQ
What is a floating license?
A floating license allows software licenses to be shared, or floated, among the workstations within a local area network. The license is not tied to a particular computer.
Macintosh Users: Installing Silhouette's floating license server requires that you have proficiency in using the Terminal window, file editing and some command line functions. The process is clearly spelled out in the manual (English only). If you do not possess these skills, please consider purchasing our nodelocked product.
What is a standalone?
The standalone version is a program of it's own, not a plug-in. It works WITHOUT another host application, like After Effects or Final Cut Pro.
Note:You can't run nodelocked and floating licenses concurrently on the same machine.
Free Silhouette Shape Import/Export Plug-in for After Effects
The free Silhouette Shape Import/Export plug-in will import Silhouette Shapes and convert them to After Effects masks as well as export and convert After Effects masks to Silhouette Shapes--all without having Silhouette installed on your system.
When importing Silhouette Shapes, the following shape parameters transfer into After Effects: opacity, shape color, shape name, locked state, transfer mode and blur settings.
Note: The Silhouette Shape Import/Export plug-in is only supported for use with Silhouette v3 and above.
