modo is the modern 3D software for the PC and Mac
that brings a new level of creative freedom for artists and
designers. modo offers an intuitive combination of modeling, painting and rendering tools in a fused workflow that is ideal for creating 3D content and high quality imagery for a wide variety of commercial and non-commercial applications.
Model
modo's modeler is the fastest, most advanced polygonal and subdivision surface 3D modeler available. It is used worldwide for everything from mechanical and architectural designs, to organic creature modeling. New snapping, UV and 3D sculpting tools make the heart of modo even stronger.
- model, sculpt, edit UV’s, paint in 3D, animate and render in one integrated package
- modo has a highly adaptable user interface that is a favorite among artists and designers
- modo works with up to 32 cores for maximum performance
- modo comes with a huge amount of pre-built content and learning materials to get you started fast
Who uses modo?
modo lets you create any imaginable shape and render it out
with incredible surface detail. Architects, package designers, industrial designers, graphic artists, game designers, production studios, fine artists, educators, scientists, photographers and re-touchers all use modo.
modo can be used by anyone looking to bring the power of 3D
graphics to their art and design projects. The unique combination of tools and a well-thought-out user interface has made modo popular for hobbyists, as well as a wide array of professional users.
The modo Difference
modo is a creation tool designed by artists, for artists. It is not just a collection of algorithms, but a refined combination of technology, performance and workflow that encourages the 3D creation process. modo is a unique tool that invites and compels you to achieve your best.
modo’s advanced architecture fully exploits modern computing technologies, including multi-core CPUs, pressure-sensitive tablets and hardware-accelerated OpenGL so that new levels of “creative flow” can be achieved.

Features
Presets
in modo 401 offer a wide array of pre-built, yet
customizable content for building and decorating models and
scenes. A drag-and-drop interface facilitates scene assembly and organization. The over 1,500 Presets that accompany modo 401 are only the beginning; Luxology has built a new online content sharing system for the worldwide modo community to create, modify, and share materials, props, profiles, and lighting environments.
Expanded modeling
toolset in modo 401 enables artists and designers to quickly add shape detail to 3D models by leveraging 1D and 2D profiles in a variety of modeling operations. New options for conforming to an underlying mesh facilitate retopology
operations on top of complex CAD data or scanned datasets. The new replica modeling tools in modo 401 let you impart trillion polygon detail to scenes like leaves, barnacles, thorns, or rivets– all with minimal impact on stored scene size.
Faster Preview
in modo 401 delivers an even more realistic view of the scene during the content creation process, as well as responsive navigation control even on larger scenes. The Preview renderer also supports more advanced lighting effects and will progressively render to near final image quality.
Lighting enhancements
in the modo renderer include caustics, dispersion, blurry refraction, volumetric lighting, and support for deep shadows, light linking, and multiple environments. A new Shadow catcher feature lets you easily integrate your model into an existing photo.
